Salsa Live! Delivers Andrea Stewart, Moe Flex and Live Music
It was Andrea Stewart’s first gig since leaving the UK for Slovenia, headlining alongside The Prince of Rueda Moe Flex and I Love Salsa’s Fire PLUS three salsa bands. And the vibe was there. Salsa Live! at Sinah Warren - Warners’ flagship hotel on Hayling Island - is in a beautiful wooded spot, right on the beach. The accommodation is good, the food and wine are good, the main dance floor is good. This is a holiday and a salsa break, with plenty of time to relax as well as to take your dancing to the next level. As one of the smaller breaks, Salsa Live! has a more intimate vibe, there is the chance to make friends, get some good time with instructors and some quality time with your other half.

Salsa Live!: You Tell It Like It Is
“THE HIGHLIGHT OF THIS WEEKEND WAS OF COURSE THE LIVE MUSIC. With one more horn Grupo Luis Lema would have been a small full-sized band. They kicked off the first night, with an authentic, big sound. I’m not sure what to make of Robin del Castillo’s Saturday night gig, it was certainly not normal, with only one salsa number in the second half of their set. After that everyone was given a merengue experience, with lots of athletics on stage from Robin. On Sunday Palenke proved why they are the top club band, with a set that included lots of hard hitting salsa dura and old favourites. On the down side, the way the seating is arranged can make it rather intimidating for asking ladies for a dance. DJ wise I would have liked a bit less "Volare" and more "Me Libere", too much salsa Romantica, also funk and reggaeton maybe great music to dance to, but surely not with a partner? I don't do many classes at these sort of events these days, as at my age I have to conserve my energy. One couple I know who came last year did as many classes as possible but were too tired to dance in the evenings. However I do like to watch the classes, which go very well as these are much the same size as normal club classes. There were substantially more salsa dancers than last year, with more late night/early morning partying. DJ Fire did an excellent job as MC/DJ maintaining the heat. I particularly liked it when he got everyone on to the floor, changing partners to different dances. Word is getting around about this event and I believe it will attract a full house if given the time It would be an absolute tragedy if we lose this one.” Review by Richard Miller, London Salsa in Hayling Island, 7 June
